Back to the Future

My adult daughter brought out some old fashion cassette tapes the other day.  She asked me if I would put them on CD's   I have the perfect machine to do so and said, "sure".

The tapes said Merry Christmas on them. Each was addressed to one of my two daughters.
When my girls were little, I use to read to them before bed.  We did not have a TV in those days and stories were our entertainment.  Plus it gave me one on one time with my girls.  The problem was the ol "One more Mommy," drove me crazy.

After a long day I was beat and wanted to go to bed myself, so I decided to make tapes of my daughters favorite books.  The tapes were very crude but remain treasures to my daughters.   Using books they already had,  I recorded myself reading and would tell them when to turn the page.  Later I used a crude bell for page turns.

When I started re-recording the tapes, I heard a very young me say, that it was 1985!  Something right out of the "Back to the Future" movies.  My oldest was six and youngest was four.  I was surprised at the voices I used and the mistakes and corrections  I made; like I said crude, but the point was my girls loved them and still do.

What have you done for memories for your kids?  Penny for your thoughts.
